The Heart Behind the Story

Healing doesn't begin when our past disappears. It begins when we stop believing it defines us.

If you've found your way here, there's a good chance you've spent much of your life carrying more than anyone realized.

Maybe you've been the strong one.

The responsible one.

The one who held everything together while quietly putting yourself last.

I know that feeling because I've lived it.

For a long time, I believed my story was something to overcome. Today, I see it differently. The hardest parts of my journey became the very places where compassion, hope, and healing began to grow.

I don't share my story because it's extraordinary.

I share it because I know what it feels like to wonder if healing is really possible.

If you're here, I want you to know one thing...

You are not alone.

I'm grateful you're here.

My Journey

My life has been shaped by chapters I never would have chosen, but each one has taught me something about healing, hope, and the incredible capacity of the human spirit to heal.

As a little girl, I learned far too early what it meant to survive. Like so many women, I carried responsibilities that no child should have to carry. For years, I believed that being strong meant pushing forward, no matter how heavy the burden became.

But survival isn't the same as healing.

Over time, I began to understand that healing wasn't about forgetting my past or pretending it hadn't happened. It was about meeting the wounded parts of myself with compassion, finding the courage to heal, and believing that my future could be different from my past.

That journey transformed every part of my life. It shaped not only the woman I became, but the work I feel called to do today.

Why I Share My Story

The reason I share my story is because I know there are others who have faced unimaginable difficulties, felt alone, uncertain, and lived in fear.

I know because I have been there.

I wrote "The Child I Left Behind" because I wanted every woman who reads it to know that no matter what you have lived through, no matter what struggles you carry...

You are not alone.
You are not stuck.

You are so much more than the hardest chapters of your life.

You are a beautiful soul whose light has never gone out—it may simply be waiting to shine again.

I understand because I have walked that road myself.

My hope is that by sharing my story, you'll discover something deeper than inspiration.

I hope you'll discover hope.

  • Hope that your past does not define you.
  • Hope that healing is possible.
  • Hope that your future can be brighter than you ever imagined.
Because it can.

A Life Dedicated to Healing

Over the years, I've had the privilege of serving in many roles, but each has been guided by the same purpose—to help others discover that healing is possible.

Whether through counseling, writing, speaking, or spiritual exploration, my greatest joy is walking alongside people as they reconnect with their authentic selves, embrace hope, and create lives rooted in healing rather than survival.

Recognition

While recognition has never been the reason I do this work, I'm deeply grateful that my story has resonated with readers around the world.

The Child I Left Behind has received multiple literary honors, but what means the most to me are the messages from women who remind me every day that healing is possible.

Every message, every review, and every shared story reminds me that when one person has the courage to tell the truth, it gives others permission to begin healing.
